Sandown Review and Tips

A brilliantly competitive racecard at Sandown today to get our teeth into.

Starting with the 2.05 we have a fascinating race over the minimum trip. Burning Thread resumed winning ways recently and with his latest Doncaster 2nd reading well, could be the one to side with here. Others to note are Tidal’s Baby at the bottom of the weights who won a 20 runner event at Goodwood last time out. At bigger prices, course specialist Lupo D’Oro and aggressive front runner Swendab are also worth a mention, with decemt runs from these two far from out of the question.

Verdict: Burning Thread 2pts win

Lupo D’Oro 1pt each way

The 2.40 sees Kingman looking to confirm his debut promise in this small field by being most punter’s nap of the card today. However I’m taking him on just as interest bet with Music Theory, who in my opinion was equally as impressive last time out.

Verdict: Music Theory 1pt win

Today’s feature race is the 3.15 Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Atlanta Stakes with the two to talk about being Integral and Zibelina. The former was a pick of mine a few weeks ago for the Nassau Stakes and she ran well that day, finishing midfield. This is an easier race and my money is staying with Sir Michael Stoute’s promising recruit. Ladys First best of the rest.

Verdict: Integral 3pts win

The 3.50 is an open affair with a case to be made for several. Shennockian Star has finished outside of the top 2 just twice in his last 16 races! However, he is moving up in the weights and faces some useful sorts today. For me, Whispering Warrior can bounce back from his last run when it was upped in grade. Prior to that it had won 5 from its last 6 races and I’m tipping him to resume winning ways. Vasily is a tough front runner and could have little opposition to get to the front here. At decent odds he could get a place here under talented amateur Robert Tart.

Verdict: Whispering Warrior 2pts win

Vasily 2pts each way

Lilyfire can win the 4.25 for James Doyle and Roger Charlton and can get the better of favourite Hunters Creek. Looked a useful sort winning an 18 runner Ascot maiden on debut and looks like one to keep an eye on.

Verdict: Lilyfire 4pts win

A sharp mile might just be what Emulating needs here in 5.00 and I’m taking him to beat much fancied Siver Dixie. The latter’s wins have come over further and may not be suited to this shorter trip. Mazaaher is in good form and is also worth considering.

Verdict: Emulating 1pt win

The 5.30 is a decent race to finish on with Broadway Duchess justifying favouritism with a good staying on 3rd last time out over shorter. At odds of around 2/1 though I’m chancing a few quid and taking her on with Opera Box and Lucky Henry as both represent good e/w value. These two, along with plenty others in the field have a bit to prove on previous runs. However, both have wins over the required distance and represent top yards, the former posting some decent efforts in handicaps and the latter’s latest effort back from a break best ignored.

Verdict: Opera Box 1pt each way

Lucky Henry 1pt each way
