The Cheeky Midweekly

stadium

With a host of mid-week football cracking off around the world (well, Europe, im not interested in the ‘other’ continents), it’s far from a bad week to be raiding that online betting account(s) you own.  From Milan to Morecambe, and Celtic to Sociedad, spotting that golden odd has never been more – well we’ll call it ‘fun’…

Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid: 0-0 draw @ 22/1

These Spanish affairs aren’t renowned for their lack of goals, but tonight’s Spanish Super Cup second leg is far from a conventional 90 minutes. Barca go into the match level pegging at 1-1 to Madrid’s-not-so-famous team, and on the back of a far from impressive 1-0 win against Malaga. Teamed with last week’s first leg loss, Gerardo Martino’s men aren’t nearly as imperious as they were, say, forever. On the flip side, Atletico’s bulletproof defence and impressive start to the season continues to draw them closer to both Barca and their city rivals. An away win’s a big call, but 0-0 stalemate is a snip at 22/1 with Skybet.

Morecambe vs Newcastle: Morecambe to win 1-0, 2-0, or 2-1 @ 7/1

Hardly a bad set of odds in such a topsy-turvy cup, Morecambe could be about to mug Skybet at 7/1 to claim a narrow victory. If you look towards form and not towards pot luck in this one, a brave move indeed, then those odds only get more handsome; Newcastle have looked dire in their two opening games of the season against Man City and West Ham respectively, whereas Morecambe are unbeaten at their Globe Arena four games in to their campaign (despite a 3-0 hammering away at Portsmouth…). Despite the gulf in leagues, will form outshine class? The match-up screams ‘cup upset’, so punt on Pardew to be screaming in despair all the same tomorrow night.

AC Milan vs PSV Eindhoven: El Shaarawy to score first & Milan to win 2-1 @ 33/1

Milan hold the upper hand going into this Uefa Champions League second leg showdown after a 1-1 draw in Holland saw them secure a vital away goal. The San Siro should witness a tight game this evening, with El Shaarawy odds on as first goalscorer. Baring this in mind, 33/1 courtesy of Skybet is an absolute steal (well, hopefully). Despite fitness and injury concerns, one has to believe that Milan’s quality should outshine that of Eindhoven’s, despite Philip Cocu’s team having made a strong start to life in the 2013-14 Dutch Eredivisie season.

Fingers crossed the bookie has an unhappy Wednesday!
