Can the Gunners buy right?… or just PANIC?!?!

emirates

Being an Arsenal fan I thought it was only right to share my thoughts and opinions on the current lack of spending at the Emirates…

It’s like taking your grandad to a sweet shop with Arsene Wenger… he still thinks you can get a bag of sweets for 20p. I’m past being frustrated now and just getting more and more annoyed. All the teams around and above Arsenal FC have improved in the transfer window yet Arsenal are yet to spend a penny. We have brought in 2 new recruits on free transfers, Yaya Sanogo and Matthieu Flamini. Do these strengthen the first team squad? …no.  They add squad depth which is a start after losing a lot of dead wood players at the start of the transfer window. We now face a huge uphill battle to sign some quality players after spending the majority of the window teasing Luis Suarez.

Players missed out on

Let’s take a look at the players Arsenal have missed out on this summer:

Luis Suarez – The £40 million and £1 (cannot forget the £1) was a joke in the footballing world. Were Arsenal told some incorrect information or was it just a poor attempt to sign a player with a little dig at Liverpool? My thoughts, he was chased for far too long!

Gonzalo Higuain - Great player with European Champions league experience but Mr Wenger would not raise the transfer bid to sign him. Higuain even waited for some more Arsenal movement.

Luiz Gustavo - A Brazilian play-maker. He was crying out to be signed up and ended up choosing Wolfsburg over Arsenal??!! But do we need another play-maker anyway?

Yoann Gourcuff - Arsene Wenger has been watching this player for years and he is calling for Arsenal now to sign him even stating he will take a pay cut. He is a holding midfielder which is what we need… My thoughts, go get him!!

Yohan Cabaye - A bid was submitted for Cabaye but, at £10 million, was that just for his left foot?? He is a £20 million player who is at another premier league club with premier league experience so cost is always going to be more.

David Villa - Apparently offered to us by Barcalona and wasn’t ‘needed’. Went to Athletico Madrid for £2 million and has already scored against his old employees.

Pepe Reina - Do we need a keeper? I think we do. I believe the current keepers need some experience to help them out and also some tougher competition. Again, another one like Higuain snapped up by Napoli.

Stevan Jovetic - Front runners for this guy after a number of teams pulled out. Where is he now… Man City.

Etienne Capoue - We bid for Capoue in January but were told he would not leave until this summer. Where was the bid Wenger?? Oh yeah that’s right, at Spurs!

The list goes on!

Players still up for grabs

Let’s look at what is left:

Julian Draxler, Karim Benzema, Wayne Rooney, Angel Di Maria, Josuha Guilavogui, Micah Richards, Juan Mata, Fernando Torres, Vicente Guaita, Julio Cesar, Stephan Kareem El Shaarawy, Michu, Burak Yilmaz, Arda Turan, Lars Bender, Ashley Williams, Geoffery Kondogbia.

Arsenal will sign ONE of these in my opinion and my top 3 from those are Benzema, Di Maria and Draxler. Two of those will be based on the Bale deal going through but I am far from confident.

Should Wenger go?

Let’s see what happens this year. He needs to step out of his comfort zone and be more dynamic in the transfer market or we are going to be left behind. You know it is a step too far when the fans are fighting with each other. With all Piers Morgans tweets I wonder what the odds are for him to be the next manager??

Piers Morgan to manage Arsenal – The trading team at Skybet laughed at me??

There are 3 days left… prove us wrong Arsene!!!

Any of you other Gunners fans out there I’d love to hear your views on this Summer’s transfer activity. Agree? Disagree? Let me know your thoughts. Let’s share the pain together!!!
